ARGENTINE Model 1879 EN Rolling-Block single-shot full-length infantry rifle (11x58mm, aka .43 Spanish), mfg. by Remington Arms in c.1880.  Very Good condition, with most external metal browned from oxidation. Bore is extremely strong and quite bright. Sound wood stock shows actual use (with initials L.D. carved in right side) with some of the expected dings, scratches & handling-marks. ARGENTINE Model 1891 Mauser bolt-action rifle # L7593 (7.65x54) mfg. by Loewe in 1895.  Excellent overall condition, with 95% original bluing, usual ground national crest above chamber. All-matching numbers (including cleaning-rod), bore is strong and mostly bright. Wood is quite nice with only a few scuffs and handling-marks but original finish. BELGIAN Model 1889 Mauser bolt-action carbine # G2530 (7.65x54) mfg. by Belgian Arms Factory in 1889.  Near Excellent overall condition, with 90% original bluing. All-matching numbers except for bolt (as usual), bore is strong and mostly bright. Wood is quite nice tiger-striped walnut with only a few scuffs and handling-marks but original finish (faint 1889-dated acceptance cartouche on right side). BRITISH Pattern 1853 Enfield three-band musket (.577 Percussion) mfg. by Tower Arsenal in 1857.  Fair to Good condition, poor to fair relic bore, all external metal bright, has original sights and lock. This and the two following rifles were brought back from Afghanistan during the past year. All are functional and in working condition and are entirely  made up of BRITISH issue parts (as opposed to "Khyber-Pass" parts).   All include U.S. ARMY documentation of origin. 

BRITISH Pattern 1853 Enfield two-band musket (.577 Percussion) mfg. by Tower Arsenal in 1868  Fair to Good condition, Poor to fair relic bore, lock functional. BRITISH Mark II* Snider-Enfield three-band musket (.577 Cartridge) mfg. by Enfield in 1854 as a P53, later converted by BSA to the Snider breechloading system. Very Good condition, entirely functional with surprisingly strong mirror-bright bore.  All external metal quite nice, original buttstock with 4/1885-dated cartouche a bit battered but sound. CHILEAN Model 1895 Mauser bolt-action short-rifle # B9830 (7x57) mfg. by Loewe in 1895.  Good condition, with virtually no remaining bluing on metal.  Chilean crest above chamber has been scrubbed. very strong and clear.  All numbered parts matching except magazine-floorplate and cleaning-rod. Bore is dark and rough but shootable. Stock has considerable dings from actual use, arsenal-repaired with an oval plug where there was once a sling-swivel in the middle of the stock, faint 1895-dated Chilean cartouche on right side. CHILEAN Model 1895 Mauser bolt-action rifle # A8517 (7x57) mfg. by Loewe in 1895.  Excellent condition, with 90% original deep bluing with a few small areas of rust on buttplate.  Chilean crest above chamber is very strong and clear.  All-matching numbers (including cleaning-rod).  Bore is exceptional and very bright.  Lovely walnut stock having 1895-dated Chilean cartouche, some dings, compressions and handling-marks in the wood from contact with adjacent rifles but has not been sanded, includes original leather sling. DUTCH Model 1871/88 Beaumont-Vitali rifle # 137M (11x52R) mfg. by J.F.J. Bar, Delft in 1874. Good to Very Good condition, with an excellent, mirror bright strong rifled bore. External metal was "in the white" and has mostly turned brown but shows little actual wear, wood retains original finish with awesome cartouche of crowned W (for King William III, reigned 1849-1890) flanked by flowers, DELFT above and date 1875 at sides. All-matching numbers (137), barrel and buttplate renumbered 3589 in 1889 when Vitali magazine was added. Mechanically sound (including the magazine-disconnect), includes cleaning-rod. Stock has arsenal repairs on both sides of magazine. I would not hesitate to shoot it this rifle if I had any ammo at all (.43 Egyptian ammo can be safely used if no Beaumont ammo can be found). DUTCH Model 18 71/88 Beaumont-Vitali shortened rifle # J76 (11x52R) mfg. by P. Stevens, Maastricht in 1876. Good condition, with an excellent, mirror bright strong rifled bore. External metal was "in the white" and has mostly turned brown and shows much actual wear, wood retains original finish with awesome cartouche of crowned W (for King William III, reigned 1849-1890) MAASTRICHT above and date 1875 at sides. All-matching numbers (76), barrel and buttplate renumbered 4866 in 1890 when Vitali magazine was added. Mechanically sound (including the magazine-disconnect), includes cleaning-rod. FRENCH Model 1874/80 Gras bolt-action single-shot cartridge rifle # A74841 (11x59R) mfg. by St. Etienne in 1876.  Very Good condition, most metal finish turned to a pleasing gray patina.  All parts mismatched but functional. Bore is mirror-bright and extremely strong.  Nice walnut stock has original finish with arsenal cartouche with its wooden-plug center. Includes brass-handled 1873-dated sword bayonet with matching scabbard that fits this rifle perfectly. Not import-marked.   PHOTOS . . . $625.   Antique, no FFL required 

FRENCH Model 1886 R93 Lebel bolt-action single-shot cartridge rifle # N55287 (8x50R) mfg. by Tulle in 1878, rebarreled in 1919 by Tulle (with N-bore)  Very Good condition, most metal finish turned to a pleasing gray patina.  All parts mismatched but functional. Bore is mirror- bright and extremely strong.  Stock has numerous arsenal-repairs and some losses where stock adjoins receiver. GERMAN Model Gewehr 71 bolt-action Mauser infantry rifle # 7287 (11mm) mfg. by Amberg in 1877.  Very Good condition, receiver "in the white" (as is proper).  A few small bolts mismatched, else all-matching numbers. GERMAN Model Gewehr 71 bolt-action Mauser infantry rifle # 8976G (11mm) mfg. by Mauser in 1878.  Very Good overall condition, this cartridge-rifle has been re-converted to a percussion muzzle-loader for some odd reason, front sight reconfigured but otherwise not sporterized. GERMAN Model Gewehr 71/84 bolt-action Mauser infantry "sporterized " long rifle # 9185P (11mm) mfg. by Danzig in 1887.  Good condition, receiver and all metal parts pretty much "browned" externally from oxidation. All mismatched parts, amazingly strong and very shiny bore. Wood and magazine has been cut-down, magazine-spring missing, ladder part of rear-sight eliminated with only "express" sights in use. GERMAN Model Karbiner 88 bolt-action Mauser carbine # 16610 (8x57mm), a commercial sporter  mfg. by unknown maker c.1890.  Excellent condition, receiver "in the white" (as is proper), barrel has 95% original blue, magazine housing, barrel-bands and buttplate have vivid case-hardened colors. All-matching numbers (10) with correct spoon-handle bolt, has double set-triggers. Gorgeous mirror-bright bore. Stock is of vivid tiger-striped walnut with nice oil-finish and rear-sight is of the express folding-leaf type. Truly a gorgeous example of late 19th Century Gunmaker's skill. Not import-marked. . . ITALIAN Model 1870/87/16 Vetterli-Vitali  bolt-action infantry rifle # VX1077 (6.5x52 Carcano) mfg. by Torre Annunziata in 1878.  Very Good condition, with full bluing on all metal parts. Bore is actually quite strong and mirror-bright and rifle appears to be functional. Wood is almost mar-free and has a fancy refurbishment cartouche on its left side, includes cleaning-rod.   No import marks, not recommended for shooting.  PHOTOS . . . $225.   Antique, no FFL required 

ITALIAN Model 1870/87/16 Vetterli-Vitali  bolt-action infantry rifle # Y1091 (6.5x52 Carcano) mfg. by Torre Annunziata in 1876.  Good condition, with most bluing on all metal parts. Bolt will no longer lock or cock, bore is actually quite strong and somewhat bright. Wood is sound with arsenal-repair to heel. PORTUGUESE Model 1886 Kropatschek bolt-action infantry rifle # SS601 (8x60R Kropatschek) mfg. by Steyr in 1886.  Very Good condition with gorgeous near-perfect bore. Metal has full bluing, bolt (and all bolt parts) numbered C56. Completely functional with 8-shot tubular magazine and original cleaning-rod. Wood has original finish with bolt 1886-dated Steyr cartouche, some of the inevitable handling-marks acquired over the past 120 years. PORTUGUESE Model 1886 Kropatschek bolt-action short-rifle # 953 (8x60R Kropatschek) mfg. by Steyr in 1886.  Very Good condition with rough but strong bore. Metal has full bluing, bolt (and all bolt parts) numbered I151. Completely functional with 8-shot tubular magazine and original cleaning-rod. Wood has original scuffed-up finish with clear cartouche. SPANISH Model 1893 Mauser bolt-action rifle # 12670 (7x57) mfg. by Loewe in 1895.  Very Good condition, with 80% original bluing becoming somewhat browned from oxidation. Totally mismatched parts with Loewe monogram above chamber, no cartouche on stock. Bore is strong and mostly bright. Wood is sound with a few scuffs and handling-marks but original finish. SWISS Model 1869 Vetterli bolt-action infantry rifle # 59773 (10.4mm Swiss rimfire) mfg. by S.I.G., Neuhausen c.1870. Very Good condition, all-matching numbers (and every part is numbered). All original case-hardened finish turning brown or mottled, bore is a bit rough but retains strong rifling. Rifle still has magazine loading-gate (a feature usually removed after 1871) with "key" in forend. TURKISH Model Gewehr 88/14 bolt-action Commission rifle # 9489s (8x57mm) mfg. by Steyr in 1890.  Excellent condition, some external metal browned. No matching numbers, bolt has Turk markings (but rifle does not), S-marked bore. Nice strong and extremely shiny bore.  Buttstock is original walnut, rear barrel-band unit-marked 116.R.4.84. TURKISH Model Gewehr 88/14 bolt-action Commission rifle # 7207 (8x57mm) made in Germany c. 1894, original markings above chamber overstamped with ANKARA 1938. Very Good condition, most external metal browned. No matching numbers, rifle has Turk markings (but bolt does not). TURKISH Model 1893 bolt-action Mauser rifle # 41455 (8x57mm) mfg. by Mauser in 1895-7.  Excellent condition, magazine floorplate and triggerguard browned. ASFA ANKARA 1939 stamped above chamber, no matching numbers, bolt has Arabic and Turk markings. Gorgeous mirror-bright bore.  Buttstock and handguard is Turkish Beech, retains metal block on right side of action that once housed magazine cut-off switch.
