FRENCH Model 1892 Ordnance revolver # F82646 (8mm Lebel), mfg. by St. Etienne in 1895. Excellent condition with 90% or better bluing, bore is very strong without the usual pitting. Action very tight with checkered walnut grips. Not import-marked.  PHOTOS . . . $425.  SOLD

AUSTRIAN Model 1867 Werndl single-shot rifle # 868 (11x42R) mfg. by Steyr in 1869.  Near Excellent, originally "in the white" most metal now has a subtle plum-hue. Bore is very sharp and mirror-bright. Buttstock has original finish with very few of the expected handling marks. Has unit-markings 49.R. / 4872. on buttplate.  Extremely attractive, includes cleaning-rod. BRITISH Martini-Henry Mark II short-lever single-shot rifle, no serial number (.577/450) mfg. by Birmingham Small Arms & Munitions in 1886.   Very Good condition, a quite nice example with nearly full external bluing (turning a bit brown on the triggerguard, barrel-bands, and rear of receiver).  The bore is very strong and bright, and the wood has it's original finish with arsenal cartouches (including some Indian characters) on the right side. BRITISH Martini-Enfield Mark I short-lever single-shot carbine #4804 (.303 British) mfg. by Enfield in 1896, right side of receiver stamped KHARTOUM, 1909.   Very Good condition, metal in the white, bore is extremely strong and mirror-bright. Wood is much nicer than usually seen, with Egyptian-style unit-disk on right side of butt. BRITISH Magazine Lee Enfield Mk.1 bolt-action rifle #6161E (.303 British) mfg. by Enfield in 1897.  Very Good overall condition, a rework with Nitro-proofed BSA-mfg. barrel (#18754).  Volley-sights have been removed, bolt is of the carbine type (with flattened knob) without attached safety, rear-sight lacks elevation crossbar, no cleaning-rod. Bore is strong but dark, tigerstripe-walnut stock has original finish with many bold cartouches, handguard is missing. Rifle is functional and quite attractive. CHILEAN Model 1895 Mauser bolt-action rifle #D965 (7x57) mfg. by Loewe in 1895.  Excellent PLUS condition, with 100% original deep bluing and all-matching numbers with slightly weak but legible Chilean crest above chamber.  Strong, extremely shiny bore, lovely fiddleback-walnut stock (with Chilean Navy cartouche) and handguard with a few scuffs and handling-marks but original finish. CHILEAN Model 1895 Mauser bolt-action rifle #G5488 (7x57) mfg. by Loewe in 1895.  Excellent PLUS condition, with 100% original deep bluing with a few small areas of rust on receiver.  Chilean crest above chamber is very strong and clear.  Mismatched bolt (#C4356) and cleaning-rod (#E4824), but all other numbers match.  Bore is exceptional, mirror-bright and literally like new.  Lovely walnut stock with subtle tigerstripe figure having 1895-dated Chilean cartouche, some dings, compressions and handling-marks in the wood from contact with adjacent rifles. DANISH Model 1867/96 Rolling-Block single-shot rifle #47466 (11.7x51mm, rimfire or centerfire), mfg. by Geverfabrik Kjobenhaven in c.1875.  Excellent condition, receiver "in the white", barrel mottled in color. Bore is amazingly mirror-bright and extremely strong. Tang has been drilled & tapped for tang rear sight. Really nice walnut buttstock and forend has original finish with few of the expected handling-marks, and retains its cartouches. Completely functional, with cleaning-rod. DUTCH Model 71/88 Beaumont-Vitali rifle #240 (11x52R) mfg. by P. Stevens, Maastricht in 1873. Near Excellent condition, with an unbelievably perfect, mirror bore that is really amazing to look down. External metal was "in the white" and has partially turned plum but shows little if any actual wear, wood retains original finish with awesome cartouche of crowned W (for King William III, 1849-1890) flanked by flowers, MAASTRICHT above and date 1873 at sides. All-matching numbers (240). Mechanically perfect (including the magazine-disconnect), includes cleaning-rod. I would not hesitate to shoot it this rifle if I had any ammo at all (.43 Egyptian ammo can be safely used if no Beaumont ammo can be found). PHOTOS . . . $575.   Antique, no FFL required   SOLD

FINN Model 1891 Mosin Nagant bolt-action rifle # 48354 (7.62x54R) barrel mfg. by Belgium in 1942 on a 1895-dated Sestroryetsk receiver.   Excellent PLUS condition, with 100% bluing on all metal parts. Matching bolt, bore is excellent, mirror-bright and very strong. Essentially new 2-piece Finn buttstock with a few dings and handling-marks from storage, handguard is Very Good condition. FRENCH Model 1866 Chassepot bolt-action needlefire rifle # P4364 (11mm linen cartridge) mfg. by St. Etienne in September, 1872.  Excellent condition, as nice an example as one could hope to ever see.  Metal finish is "in the white" and, though a bit subdued by age, no pitting or evidence of rust is visible. All-matching numbers, bore is exceptional and mirror-bright (literally appears as-new), bolt retains its needlefire design (has not been converted to metallic cartridge) and is fully functional (though bolt is missing its rubber grommet). Gorgeous fiddleback walnut stock has intact original finish with intact arsenal cartouche missing its wooden-plug center. Literally museum-quality, and worthy of the finest collection. FRENCH Model 1874/80 Gras bolt-action single-shot cartridge rifle # JH20722 (11x59R) mfg. by St. Etienne in August, 1882.  Very Good condition, most metal finish turned to a pleasing gray patina.  Bolt is mismatched (# C88088) and is a bit rusty but matches itself and is functional. Bore is quite bright and very strong with a bit of debris in the grooves.  Nice walnut stock has original finish with intact arsenal cartouche with its wooden-plug center.  PHOTOS . . . $625.   Antique, no FFL required 

GERMAN Model Karbine 88 bolt-action Mauser carbine # 4505c (8x57mm) mfg. by V.C. Schilling, Suhl in 1890.  Very Good condition, receiver "in the white" (as is proper).  All-matching numbers with correct spoon-handle bolt, a few dents in barrel-jacket, S-marked bore. Nice strong and shiny bore, with correct en-bloc clip for ammo. Tiger-striped buttstock has been refinished with the sling-slot filled in for some unknown reason. Nose-cap has had ears filed off and is missing the windage-screw as well as front-sight, middle-band missing its spring. PHOTOS . . . $375.  Antique, no FFL required   SOLD

GERMAN Model Gewehr 88 bolt-action Mauser Commission rifle # 1975a (8x57mm) mfg. by Loewe, Berlin in 1890.  Very Good condition, much of the external metal browned. No matching numbers, bolt has Turk markings (but rifle does not), S-marked bore. Nice strong and extremely shiny bore.  Buttstock is of Beech and appears to be of much more recent vintage with very little evidence of use. Some pitting at wood-line. Rifle is functional and I would not hesitate to shoot it.  Barrel-bands have unit-markings stamped on them. PHOTOS . . . $275.  Antique, no FFL required   SOLD

JAPANESE Type 13 Murata bolt-action single-shot rifle # 18793 (11.15x60R Murata) mfg. by Tokyo Arsenal Small Arms Factory in 1881.  Very Good condition with mostly browned patinated surfaces on metal, very bold markings on receiver (including intact mum). Surprisingly Excellent mirror-bore with very sharp rifling. No matching numbers. Wood is in fair to good condition and has some of the usual scuffs and dings, minor loss on right side near buttplate (rats?), a small crack on the right side near buttplate, a few Japanese characters on right side, small crack at tang. ORANGE FREE STATE Model 1885 Guedes falling-block single-shot rifle # 415 (8x60R) mfg. by Steyr in 1886. Excellent, with 95% original bluing on barrel & receiver, bolt-handle and bands turned brown. All-matching numbers except for block (#960), bore is extremely strong and mirror-bright. Walnut stock has original finish with intact cartouche, the usual dings and handling-marks along with a couple letter of graffiti on left side, otherwise the nicest example of this rifle I have yet encountered.  Although initially made for Portugal by Steyr, the contract was cancelled before a single rifle was delivered and all ended up with the Boers in South Africa.  PHOTOS . . . $850.  Antique, no FFL required   SOLD

ORANGE FREE STATE Model 1893 Mauser bolt-action rifle #8546 (7x57) mfg. by DWM in 1897 with Chilean crest above chamber and O.V.S. on left side above serial number.  Near Excellent condition, with 90% bluing intact.  Strong, very shiny bore, mismatched parts with turned-down bolt. Lovely subtle tiger-striped walnut stock (with MF Chilean Navy cartouche) and handguard with numerous handling-marks but original finish. Includes cleaning-rod.  While bearing a close resemblance to the Chilean Model 1895 Mauser, this has a different rear sight and the receiver does not have the auxiliary bolt-lug. SPANISH Model 1870 Peabody single-shot side-hammer rifle, no apparent serial-number (11x58mm, aka .43 Spanish), mfg. by Providence Tool Co., Providence, R.I. in c.1870.  Near Excellent condition, with most external metal turned to "plum" from oxidation with a few external patches of likely blood-pitting (located where they are most likely to be noticed, naturally).  Bore is exceptional, extremely strong and quite literally mirror-bright. Really nice walnut buttstock and forend, with original finish and very few handling-marks. SPANISH Model 1870 Rolling-Block single-shot rifle #1526 (11x58mm, aka .43 Spanish), mfg. by Remington Arms in c.1870.  Very Good condition, with most external metal having a "plum" hue from oxidation. Bore is extremely strong and nearly mirror-bright. Really nice walnut buttstock and forend has original finish with some of the expected dings, scratches & handling-marks. SWISS Model 1871 Vetterli bolt-action infantry rifle #146540 (10.4mm Swiss rimfire) mfg. by Waffenfabrik Bern c.1877. Excellent PLUS condition, all-matching numbers (and every part is numbered). 90% original case-hardened finish, bore is absolutely gorgeous, mirror-bright all the way to muzzle with strong rifling (actually looks unfired). URUGUAY Model 1871 Mauser bolt-action single-shot carbine #6542 (6.5x53.5SR Deaudetau) mfg. by Mauser in 1878 as a 11mm Carbine and converted at St. Denis to the Deaudetau caliber (also known as the DOVITIIS conversion). Near Excellent condition, with some mottling of metal (originally "in the white") from age. Bolt (and all bolt parts) numbered 7302B. Bore is absolutely gorgeous, mirror-bright all the way to muzzle with strong rifling. Wood is walnut with its original finish (cartouches clear) having only a few minor handling-marks, cleaning-rod in channel on left side of stock, saddle-ring still present. U.S.A. Model 1861/63 Roberts single-shot side-hammer rifle #4988 (.58 Roberts centerfire), mfg. by Providence Tool Co., Providence, R.I. in c.1869-1870 (conversion from uncertain Musket).  Excellent condition, most external metal turned to "plum" from age. Bore is surprisingly bright and strong with a few areas of darkness.  Wood retains its original finish with very few of the expected handling-marks, a thin 1" long crack on left side. Bold receiver-markings, lock-plate has no markings, completely functional.  One of 5,000 issued to the South Carolina National Guard in 1870.  Flayderman 9A-351 "Suffering heavy loss and breakage while in service, the survival rate of these was very low, hence examples, especially those in finer grades, are very scarce". . . "When found on American arms other than the Model 1861 Musket, a premium should be added to the value".  This rare rifle is in MUSEUM QUALITY condition. Includes cleaning-rod. U.S.A. Model 1867 Peabody single-shot side-hammer rifle, no apparent serial-number (chambered in .45-70 with Henry rifling), mfg. by Providence Tool Co., Providence, R.I. in c.1870. Very Good relic condition, with most external metal turned to "plum" from age. Bore quite bright and strong with a few rough-spots.  Wood apparently retains its original finish with numerous expected handling-marks, a thin crack on left side. Weak but readable receiver-markings, appears to be completely functional.  This was a militia rifle issued to the Connecticut National Guard, rusty ID-tag inscribed CONN 1654 on bottom of stock.  Includes partial (correct?) cleaning-rod. U.S.A. Model 1879 Lee-Navy magazine rifle # 52557 (.45-70), mfg. by Remington Arms in 1880. Very Good PLUS condition, with much of the external metal turned to "plum" from age. Bore is dazzlingly mirror-perfect with great rifling. Wood apparently retains its original finish with numerous expected handling-marks, old repair and thin crack at tang. Bold receiver-markings, with U.S.N., anchor, No.3328 and H.H.E. above chamber.  Completely functional and in better than expected condition.  Cleaning-rod is missing.  Scarce, only 1,300 of these were produced. U.S.A. Model 1896 "Krag-Jorgensen" bolt-action rifle #96146 (.30-40 Krag) mfg. by Springfield Armory in 1896. A sporterized example in Very Good condition with 95% or better reblue and a strong bore with some darkness in the grooves.  Has Marble front and rear sights, a Bishop sporter stock (missing some decorative inserts) and bolt has been jeweled.
