ARGENTINE Model 1891 Mauser bolt-action engineer's carbine # C3854 (7.65x53) mfg. by D.W.M. in 1899. Very Good condition, with 75% strong bluing. Very clear national crest, all matching serial numbers, bore is strong but a bit dim. Original walnut stock has many handling-marks. Not import marked. PHOTOS . . . $550.   C&R      SOLD

ARGENTINE Model 1909 Mauser bolt-action rifle # G1381 (7.65x54) mfg. by DWM in 1910.  Excellent condition, with 95% bluing on all parts (receiver in the white as it should be).  National Crest above chamber very bold, all-matching serial numbers (including cleaning rod and buttstock).  Bore is very strong and mirror-bright. Walnut stock and handguard has original finish with a few bumps and dings and an expertly repaired break at wrist  (it's been 113 years, after all). PHOTOS . . . $825.*    C&R    

ARGENTINE Model 1909 Mauser bolt-action cavalry carbine # A1721 (7.65x54) mfg. by DWM in 1910.  Very Good or better condition, with full bluing on most parts, receiver in the white (as is proper). Argentine crest above chamber clear. Bolt numbered A1737 (close, but not matching) triggerguard numbered A1721 (matching). Bore is mostly shiny with strong rifling. ARGENTINE Model 1933 Mauser bolt-action short rifle # 1357 (7.65x53) mfg. by Mauser (Oberndorf) in 1933 Near Excellent condition, with 90% bluing on most parts. PROVINCIA DE BUENOS-AIRES POLICIA  above chamber bold, bolt (and all bolt parts) serial numbers matching, triggerguard does not. Includes cleaning-rod. Bore is very bright and has strong lands and grooves, slightly weak but clear Mauser banner atop rear receiver (these markings were not stuck very well on any of these Model 1933 carbines). BELGIAN Model 89/16 Mauser bolt-action short rifle # J4181 (7.65x54) mfg. by Belgian Arms Factory in 1889.  Very Good overall condition, with 60% or so faded original bluing. All-matching serial numbers except for bolt (as usual), bore is strong and bright. Wood is walnut with original finish, clear acceptance cartouche on right side. BOLIVIAN Model CZ24 Mauser bolt-action rifle # 37968 (7.65x54) mfg. by CZ in 1928-38.  Very Good condition, with 70% bluing (turning brown from age) on all parts. No national Crest above chamber (as usual), no matching serial numbers. Bore is very strong but not very bright. Walnut stock and handguard has original finish with many bumps and dings. Includes cleaning rod, front sight protector, and reproduction leather sling.   101,000 of these were produced by CZ for Bolivia, nearly all without national crest on receiver (these are the only vz24 ever made in this caliber).  Very scarce, not import marked.  PHOTOS . . . $525.   C&R      SOLD

BRAZILIAN Model 1894 Mauser bolt-action infantry rifle # F212 (7x57mm) mfg. by Ludwig Loewe in 1894. Good or so condition, with 40% crusty faded bluing (minor pitting at wood line), bore is very dark and rough. Triggerguard numbered F212 (matching), no other parts have matching serial numbers.  Brazilian crest above chamber very weak (but visible). Walnut stock and handguard is quite beat up, but has never been sanded. Includes cleaning-rod and leather sling.  Seldom encountered, and usually is very rough shape. BRAZILIAN Model 1907 Mauser bolt-action infantry rifle # 2087 (7x57mm) mfg. by Waffenfabrik Mauser in 1907. Very Good or so condition, with 70% bluing (minor pitting at wood line), bore is a bit rough but will likely clean up. Triggerguard numbered 2087 (matching), bolt numbered 2038 (close, but no cigar). 3-line Mauser address above chamber. Walnut stock and handguard is a bit beat uo, with clear MAUSER banner stamped on right side. BRAZILIAN Model 1908 Mauser bolt-action rifle # 5893a (7x57mm) mfg. by DWM Berlin in c.1909. ABSOLUTELY UNISSUED condition, with 100% bluing (receiver in the white, as is proper), bore is mirror-perfect. All matching numbers with matching-numbered bayonet with brass & leather scabbard. Brazilian-crest above chamber perfect. Walnut stock and handguard has gorgeous tiger-striped figure with no handling-marks and a few tiny dings with original finish and razor-sharp cartouche. BRAZILIAN Model 1922 Mauser bolt-action carbine # C3586 (7x57mm) mfg. by Fabrique National in 1922. Very Good or so condition, with 70% bluing (minor pitting at wood line), bore is quite dark and rough but will possibly "shoot clean". No matching serial numbers, weakly struck (but clear) Brazilian national crest above chamber. Walnut stock and handguard has original finish with many dings and other handling marks (but no cracks). BRAZILIAN Model 1935 Mauser bolt-action rifle # 5863  (7x57mm) mfg. by Waffenfabrik Mauser in 1935. UNISSUED, with 100% bluing, bore is perfect, with all matching serial numbers. Brazilian-crest above chamber perfect, as is Mauser banner on rear receiver. Stock and handguard have original finish with only a few tiny dings but show no signs of actual use. Includes hinged muzzle-cap and matching numbered bayonet in new condition, as well as browned and slightly tattered Mauser factory test-target dated 12 APRIL 1937. GERMAN Gewehr 88/05 Commission bolt-action rifle # 840e (8x57JS) mfg. by Steyr in 1889. Very Good or better condition, a Turkish refurb with bluing turned brown from age and retaining its metal barrel-jacket, magazine altered in 1905 to utilize regular stripper-clip loading. No matching numbers (as usual). Barrel and receiver S-marked, bore is mirror-bright. Beech stock is quite nice.  Rear sight remarked with Arabic numbers. Completely functional, I would not hesitate to shoot this (however I DO NOT recommend any firing military ammo in it, only modern U.S.-manufactured commercial loads in it rather than milsurp ammo). GERMAN Model Gewehr 98 bolt-action infantry rifle # 32u (8x57mm) mfg. by Amberg in 1916.  Very Good condition, metal has a gray coloration and little remaining bluing.  All matching serial numbers except for bolt and all bolt parts as well as cleaning rod. Has original "Roller Coaster" rear sight (which is functional). Beech buttstock has the expected handling marks and dings, with faint Imperial cartouches on right side.  Has a non-critical 3" crack at bottom caused by over-tightened buttplate screw. IRAQI Model 48BO Mauser bolt-action rifle # V21394 (8mm) mfg. by Zastava in c.1952 with no Yugoslav markings. Excellent or better with very sharp Iraqi property-marking (Islamic character in triangle) atop chamber and full remaining original blue.  All matching serial numbers on numbered parts  with  a mirror-bright and very sharp bore. Solid wood buttstock has some scuffs from actual use, but is sound.  Includes cleaning-rod, front sight-hood ands worn 98k type sling with buckle. PHOTOS . . . $750.    C&R     SOLD

PERSIAN Model 98/29 rifle # C03773 (8x57) mfg. by Brno in 1931 (1309 Anno Hijera), Excellent condition, with all-matching serial numbers including matching bayonet. Internally perfect with a mirror-perfect bore, wood is highly polished walnut with some contact-marks, light scrapes and abrasions as well as an inventory number painted on left side.  PHOTOS. . . $1250.*      C&R     SOLD

POLISH Model Karbiner 98 Mauser bolt-action short rifle # 9398 (8x57mm), undated, mfg. by Warsaw between the wars with straight-bolt, arsenal-refurbished by Spain during their civil war in the mid-late 1930's.  Near Excellent condition, with 85% or better bluing on all parts. All major parts numbered 9398 (Matching, the bolt handle force-matched). Bore is extremely bright and very strong. Rifle has no markings other than K98 on left side of receiver. Includes stacking bar beneath muzzle and reproduction leather sling.  Walnut stock has some handling marks and scratches, large letter A neatly carved on left side. PORTUGUESE Model 937A bolt-action rifle # C12282 (8mm) mfg. by Mauser in 1937 with bold Nazi eagle/swastika markings and Portuguese crest above chamber. A 100% matching 98k rifle including the stock in Very Good condition with 70% bluing (metal browned and somewhat crusty from carry) and signs of even external wear, some light pitting at the wood line. Bore is very bright and strong, swastikas on left side of receiver and barrel-shank very bold. PORTUGUESE Model 904/39 Mauser-Verguiero bolt-action short rifle # H5077 (8x57) mfg. by DWM in 1904. Near Excellent condition with mostly full bluing (turning brown from age), all-matching serial numbers and bold royal crest above chamber. Original finish (some light pitting at wood line) with a nice very bright bore, includes cleaning-rod. Stock has some few handling marks and a noncritical crack on the bottom of the forend from use with bayonet. Includes hinged muzzle-cap and correct leather sling. Originally chambered in the obsolete 6.5x58 Verguiero cartridge, these rifles were slightly shortened and rechambered to 8x57 in Germany just before WWII and have one of the smoothest actions of any military rifle.   PHOTOS . . . $625.    C&R     SOLD

ROMANIAN Model vz24 Mauser bolt-action short rifle # TR13263 (8x57mm) mfg. by CZ under King Michael I, 2nd reign, in 1940.  Excellent original condition with a sharp if not terribly bright bore. M1 stamped twice stamped above chamber. Bluing is 90% or better, all matching serial numbers.  Walnut stock has quite a few handling marks with original unsanded finish. Includes cleaning rod and front sight protector, as well reproduction leather sling in as-new condition. Michael I was make King of Romania at age six and was deposed by his playboy father Carol II (who in 1925 originally renounced his right to the throne) at age nine. Michael regained his throne in 1940 (at age nineteen) and ruled again until 1947. Rifles with his cipher were almost always scrubbed, this is the first intact one we have even encountered. . .  PHOTOS . . . $925.    C&R      SOLD

SPANISH Model 1893 Mauser bolt-action infantry rifle # M7950  (7x57mm) made by Loewe in 1896. Good or better condition, with mottled bluing (mostly turned brown).  Weak Spanish royal crest with BERLIN 1896 above chamber. All matching serial numbers on all numbered parts except bolt (# M5898). Bore is somewhat bright and quite strong. Walnut stock has many dings, scrapes and other marks, thin crack on right rear of handguard. SPANISH CIVIL WAR Model Gewehr 98 Mauser bolt-action infantry rifle # 3684  (8x57mm) made by D W M in 1918.   Excellent or better refinished condition, with full bluing on all external metal. Rear sight is of the improved tangent type calibrated from 100 to 2000 meters (base marked S/42K), a considerable improvement over the original "roller coaster" rear sight and its 400 meter minimum setting. It appears that the receiver and barrel were renumbered to match bolt, stock and triggerguard numbered 5860.  Imperial cartouches on right side of stock weak but clear, but overstamped by sharp Spanish Civil War cartouche (flaming bomb above circled MP 8). Bore is somewhat bright and quite strong. Beech stock has very few dings and handling marks and no cracks. SPANISH CIVIL WAR  Model 1916 Mauser bolt-action infantry short rifle # A911  (7x57mm) made by CATALUNA (a Republican factory near Barcelona) in 1937.   Excellent or better condition, with full bluing on all external metal. All matching numbered parts (including the bolt). Bore is extremely bright and strong. Walnut stock has very few dings and one heavy scratch at bottom but no cracks. Includes cleaning rod and leather sling.  Not import marked, rare (only around 25,000 produced by what became the losing side in the conflict).   PHOTOS . . . $1425.*       C&R     SOLD

SWEDISH Model 94/14 Mauser bolt-action carbine # 49473 (6.5x55), mfg. by Carl Gustaf in 1907 with bent bolt and bayonet lug.  Excellent condition, with 90% or better bluing on all major parts. Has strong markings and a mirror-bright and strong bore.  No barrel extension. All-matching visible serial numbers (473) except bolt (which is not numbered) and all bolt parts. Walnut stock & handguard is decent with some handling marks from use,  Bore disk indicates 6.50/1.  Has sling buckle, but no sling. Not import-marked, scarce. PHOTOS . . . $850.   C&R       SOLD

VENEZUELAN Model 1910 Mauser bolt-action infantry rifle # 6076 (7x57) mfg. by Waffenfabrik Mauser in 1910.  Good to Very Good condition, with over 50% original factory bluing faded to crusty brown throughout. Has three-line Mauser address above chamber, Most serial numbers match with the exception of some minor bolt parts. Wood has many scuffs and dings from use and storage and some very non critical hairline cracks.
