BRAZILIAN REBELLION Model vz24 Mauser bolt-action short rifle # 2539 (7x57) mfg. by Brno  in c.1930.  Near Excellent condition with full bluing (turning brown on barrel bands and magazine floorplate from contact with sweaty hands). No serialized parts match, bolt has bent handle with flattened and checkered bolt knob.  Bore is extremely bright with very strong rifling. Three-line Brno address above chamber, right side of receiver deeply stamped PM 03752.9 (Policia Militar with their new rack number). Walnut buttstock and handguard has some heavy handling marks. COLOMBIAN Model 1912 Mauser bolt-action short rifles with bent bolt # A1534 (7x57mm) mfg. by Waffenfabrik Steyr in 1912. Very Good or better condition, with 75% bluing (less on barrel-bands) and a very strong extremely bright bore. National crest in oval above chamber very weak (but discernable). Bolt and triggerguard stamped A1534 (matching), magazine floorplate and bolt shroud not matching. Walnut stock has original finish with many handling marks in the 112-year interim. COSTA RICAN contract Model 1910 Mauser bolt-action short rifle # 1843 (7x57) mfg. by Waffenfabrik Mauser in 1910 Very Good or so condition, with 60% original bluing (faded to brown) and pitting at the wood line (typical for Central American rifles due to the humidity. Very worn oval National crest above chamber, MAUSER MOD. 1910 below.  Bore is not very bright but has pronounced rifling, No matching serial numbers. Walnut stock was sanded long ago. CZECH Model vz23a Mauser bolt-action short-rifle # M9086 (8x57) mfg. by CZ in 1924.  Very Good condition with curved factory address atop chamber. The bore is quite strong but not very bright.  No matching serial numbers on any numbered part except bolt-release lever. Includes cleaning-rod, front sight protector and reproduction leather sling. Buttstock and handguard have been lightly sanded sometime in the past. PHOTO . . . $525.   C&R   

EL SALVADOR contract Model vz24 Mauser bolt-action short rifle # 2168 (7x57) mfg. by CZ in 1937 Very Good or so condition, with 60% crusty bluing (faded to brown) and the usual pitting at the wood line. Date 1937 low above chamber.  Bore is rough but has pronounced rifling, Stock disk numbered 2168 (matching), otherwise no matching serial numbers. Walnut stock has many handling marks and dings, front of handguard chipped. Includes cleaning rod and worn leather sling. Not import-marked, very rare.  PHOTO . . . $500.   C&R    SOLD

ETHIOPIAN contract Model 98k Mauser bolt-action rifle # 5601G (8mm) mfg. by Brno (code swp 45) in 1945. Very Good condition with 60% or so bluing, some fading on barrel bands & triggerguard.  No matching serial numbers (barrel bands and triggerguard are unnumbered), bore is slightly rough but has strong rifling and may "shoot clean". Includes original front sight hood, Beech stock and handguard has many handling marks and a white metal disc (NOT a coin) inset on right side featuring ST. George slaying the dragon with a Ge'ez inscription below.   No provision for cleaning rod. FINN Model 91/30 Mosin-Nagant bolt-action rifle # LYE3780 (7.62x54R) mfg. by Izhevsk in 1940 on a round receiver, [SA] Finn capture marking on left side of barrel shank.  Very Good condition with 80% bluing. Bore is very bright with very strong rifling (has been counterbored at muzzle).  Bolt knob numbered 780 (matching), remaining serialized parts not matching or scrubbed.   Has Finn stacked blade front sight, one-piece Russian buttstock has some scrapes and compressions with a repaired crack on left side. FINN Model 91/30 Mosin-Nagant bolt-action rifle # 50402 (7.62x54R) mfg. by Tikka in 1943 on a hex receiver. Excellent condition with all bluing remaining.  Bore is mirror bright with very strong rifling (has NOT been counterbored at muzzle).  Bolt knob numbered 0402 (matching), remaining serialized parts not matching or scrubbed.   Has hooded post front sight, one piece Russian buttstock has many dings and scrapes. FINN Model 91/30 Mosin-Nagant bolt-action rifle # 69126 (7.62x54R) mfg. by Tikka in 1944 on a round receiver.    Excellent condition with all bluing remaining on upper metal (triggerguard has no bluing).  Bore is mirror bright with very strong rifling (has NOT been counterbored at muzzle).  Bolt knob numbered 9126 (matching), remaining serialized parts not matching or scrubbed.   Has hooded post front sight, one-piece Russian buttstock has some scrapes and compressions but is otherwise pretty nice. FRENCH Model 1886 M93 Lebel bolt-action infantry rifle # FJ84683 (8x50R Lebel) mfg. by St. Etienne in 1892. Very Good or better condition with excellent bright bore, MAS 1892 barrel NOT stamped with N. Metal has mostly full oil-blacked finish on major components.  Bolt not matching, but remainder of numbered metal parts do, Stock has been sanded and has some areas of distress and minor losses but is sound. FRENCH Model 1886 M93 Lebel bolt-action infantry rifle # ST1462 (8x50R Lebel) mfg. by Tulle in 1894 with replacement 1916 dated barrel made by Delaunay-Belleville (NOT stamped with N).   Good or better condition with slightly rough bore with strong rifling. Metal has no finish, bolt not matching (but rest of numbered metal components are).  Stock has many dents and handling marks but is sound (if a bit beat up after 130 years).  Not import-marked, completely functional. JAPANESE Type 30 Arisaka bolt-action TRAINING rifle # 3117 (6.5x50 smoothbore) mfg. by Nagoya arsenal c.1900.  Near Excellent or better condition with mostly full original bluing. Kanji markings on top of receiver translate to "Blank Firing Gun", non-matching bolt, has hooked safety and push-button bolt release. Wood has been refinished with very few handling marks, right side of stock has small rectangular cartouche containing Kanji characters and a large numeral 35.  Not import-marked.  PHOTO . . . $425.*      C&R    SOLD

Cherry blossom containing Shiki ("type") character on top of receiver, non-matching bolt. JAPANESE Type 38 Arisaka bolt-action single-shot TRAINING rifle # I658 (6.5x50) mfg. by unknown arsenal c.1920.  Excellent or better condition with mostly full original high-gloss bluing. No markings on top of receiver, matching bolt, left side of stock has rectangular cartouche. JAPANESE Type 38 Arisaka bolt-action TRAINING rifle # 14587 (6.5x50) mfg. by unknown arsenal c.1920. Very Good or so condition with mostly full original bluing covered by thin brown patina. Naval anchor in circle on top of receiver, unnumbered bolt.  Right side of stock has deep rectangular cartouche containing six Kanji characters, left side of stock has deep round cartouche containing four Kanji characters. JAPANESE contract Model VZ24 Mauser bolt-action short rifle # P61600 (8x57) mfg. by CZ in 1938.  Near Excellent or so condition, with 80% original factory bluing (faded to brown). Date 1937 above chamber.  Bore is extremely bright and strong. Stock numbered to match, else no matching serial numbers (bolt numbered P66525).  Walnut stock has original finish and is better than should be expected. Includes cleaning rod and very worn but original leather sling.  Not import-marked, rare Japanese contract with no evidence of Chinese capture.  PHOTO . . . $1275.   C&R    SOLD

SOUTH AFRICAN REPUBLIC (Z.A.R.)  Model 1893 Mauser bolt-action rifle # C2037 (7x57) mfg. by D.W.M. in early 1899. Excellent condition, with 90% original bluing, receiver, cleaning rod, triggerguard and magazine floorplate all numbered C2037 (matching), bent bolt numbered C2044 (not matching), buttstock numbered C2034 (not matching). Has a very bright and strong bore. This rifle also has a very bold Chilean crest above chamber and has late rear-sight with two adjustment springs. Wood has never been sanded and has its original finish with a few dings and scratches and one gouge on left side. Scarce, one of only 4,000 manufactured and quite historic. SOVIET Model 91/30 Mosin Nagant bolt-action rifle # 93285 (7.62x54R) mfg. by Izhevsk in 1929 as a Dragoon (tang dated 1929), upgraded to 91/30 standards.     Excellent arsenal refinished condition, with 99% or better bluing on all metal parts. All numbered parts stamped 93285 (matching). Bore quite bright with sharp rifling Stock has some scuffs in the finish. Includes cleaning rod.   PHOTOS . . . $450.*     C&R    SOLD

SOVIET Model 44 Mosin Nagant bolt-action carbine with folding bayonet # TSH2794 (7.62x54R) mfg. by Izhevsk in 1945.     Excellent refurbished condition with all numbered parts stamped MC6962 (matching), all but receiver electro-penciled in script  Bore is mirror bright and very strong, buttstock has several old bruises and a few minor scratches. SPANISH Model 1916 Mauser bolt-action short rifle # G7660 (7x57) mfg. by Oviedo in 1922, 1st pattern with "rollercoaster" rear sight. Very Good or better condition, with most remaining bluing on barreled receiver (less on barrel bands and triggerguard / magazine floorplate). Stock, triggerguard & magazine floorplate numbered 1935 (not matching), bolt numbered 5035 (also not matching). Bore is very bright and strong. Walnut stock and handguard has minimal handling marks. Left adjustment button on rear sight missing (but it functions using only the right one). Includes cleaning rod and worn black-leather sling.  Not import-marked. TURKISH Model 1903 Mauser bolt-action infantry rifle # 8038 (8x57) rearsenaled by Ankara arsenal in 1935, a large-ring Mauser with straight plum-handled bolt.  Very Good condition, with much browned bluing remaining. Rear sight serial numbered 8038 to match receiver (other numbered parts have Arabic numerals or are not matching).
