GERMAN Model Gewehr 98 bolt-action Mauser hybrid carbine # 6505n (8x57mm) mfg. by DWM in 1917. Rear Lange Vizier "Rollercoaster" rear sight was retained. All numbered parts are stamped 05 to match receiver, bolt and parts of receiver has what appears to be "blood pitting", All over this specimen is in Very Good condition, All matching serial numbers, all smaller numbered parts stamped 05. This is an all-matching carbine in just about PERFECT Excellent-PLUS condition, with 100% blued finish. Unfortunately some MORON decided to turn this into a sniper rifle utilizing a no-name but convincing German-made scope with a proper T-recticle, but the scope mount has been secured into the top of the receiver by cutting a dovetail in the top of the receiver for a very snug fit. All parts have Weimar markings with early WaffenAmpts. Solid walnut stock and handguard has lovely figure and has been lightly smoothed (cartouches still visible). Includes cleaning rod and very worn leather sling. Not import-marked, makes me VERY sad that someone had to "improve" a $4000-5000 or more very desiavble matching carbine. PHOTO . . . $1875. C&RSOLD
